Albums of Smilies to Choose From

Back in the heydays, the dropdown smilie list gave forum users over 400 smilies to select from. It was a hideous conglomeration of smilies and placard-wielding smilies. There were smilies done by Mazeguy, Comino, Aiwan, Fool and many other smilie sign generators. In short, it was one big mess, and unless you had an unwholesome fixation for animated yellow circles with expressions and the occassional appenditure (in the form of fingers), you didn't really use those 400+ smilies.

The dropdown smilie only carries the placard smilies and the animated smilies you see are on top of the message boxes. Other than that, if you need your graphics fix, I have accumulated a number of photobucket albums over the years and am still regularly adding to them. The below albums are all public, so all you need do is copy the URL and paste it in between the [ img ] [ /img ] tags.

Operation of Censored Words

This is a censored word:
    ::example::
It is a word between either one or two sets of colons. When proboards detects this word in a post, it will automatically convert it into the smilie I have designated in my censored word list.

However, after the upgrade, the beauty is that proboards will only pick up the censored word as a single word by itself. So for example:

  • (::example::) - will NOT work because the brackets ( and ) are seen to be part of the one word given there are no spaces.

  • ( ::example:: ) - will work, because the censored word is a freestanding word.

  • <center>::bar::</center> - will NOT work, because likewise, the UBB code is attached to the censored word without a space, therefore the program will treat it as one word.

To ensure that your smilies show up, please ensure you make a firm note of the above.

In the alternative, you may insert the smilies in the traditional method, using the <img>url</img> UBB tags ([image] ). To obtain the URL of any smilie, just right click it and check out its Properties, then place the URL in between the code.

[image] - argh, tell me about it. I spend more time deleting spam then I do fixing up the codes for this forum....

I wonder if it's because of the links to photobucket who is encouraging the bots to attack this thread, but I've banned one IP address, and I'm just going to keep updating the banned list until these bots know when to quit.

Argh....

Well since this is a forum for rules and stuff, you could set it so that only admins and mods are aloud to post in here. That aught to take care of the bots real fast.

It might be the photobucket links, though I'm sure the use of 'smilies' in the topic title also attracts their attention.
